Coach "Cam"- Jim Camarillo – Varsity OLB
Coach Camarillo is entering his second season with the Hamilton football program, bringing 30 years of Varsity coaching experience from both California and Arizona. He began his coaching journey at his alma mater in Garden Grove, California, where he was the Pass Game Coordinator, before relocating to Arizona, where he spent 18 impactful seasons at Scottsdale Saguaro High School. During his tenure at Saguaro, Coach Cam served as Quarterback coach, Wide Receiver coach, Special Teams Coordinator and was the Defensive Coordinator for 13 seasons. Coach Cam helped guide the program to an impressive 12 Arizona State Championships, including one State Open Championship, and three total Open Championship appearances. His 12 titles rank second all-time among Arizona high school football coaches.
Over the course of his career, Coach Cam was a position coach or coordinated the defense for more than 80 student-athletes who earned college scholarships, with five of his former players currently in the NFL and another recently retired.
His experience also extends to the national stage. In 2017, he served as Defensive Coordinator for Team USA Football, leading the team to a 63-0 victory over Canada at AT&T Stadium. The following year, he was a defensive assistant in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl played in the Alamodome.
In 2019, Coach Cam founded the Minority Football Coaches Network (MFCN), a nationally recognized nonprofit that provides personal and professional development for high school and college coaches. MFCN organizes the Arizona Coaches Clinic, one of the largest on the West Coast, and conducts the Offertunity Bowl, which has helped over 60 high school seniors earn college scholarships since its inception in 2023.
Coach Cam proudly serves on the Board of the Arizona Football Coaches Association (AZFCA). Coach recently retired from the business world where he built his business in speaking and consulting. He and his wife Laura have been married for 40 years and reside in Scottsdale, where they enjoy time with their sons, James and David, and their granddaughter Maia.
Coach Cam is honored to be part of the Hamilton High School football family and looks forward to another exciting season ahead.
